Application for Marriage or Death...
Sam and I have started to get down to the nitty grittys when it comes to wedding preparation. One of the latest things we have done is apply for a wedding license. We got the appropriate paper work needed to get the license and we found out that you use the same application for a wedding license as you do for a death certificate. The form is titled Application for Marriage or Death.
I just found this too funny... not that I anticipate any other connections between the 2 life changing events.

The Typical Pet
Sam and I were on a walk the other day and decided that we should get a pet after the wedding. We thought a cute little dog that didn't make lots of noise would be nice... But how many of those are around? Then we got to thinking about our backyard I make as I normally do, a crazy suggestion of putting a pond back there... This opens up a new world of possible pets!
Allow me to introduce you to Babar... We don't have him yet... but one day Babar will enjoy our backyard pond.

Held hostage again...
Neighbour No 5... again
Sam and I came home after going to Canadian Tire for a few things around the house. As we pull up to the driveway we see Neighbour No. 5 sitting on his front lawn. We decided it was best to leave everything in the car and get it out later. As we stepped out of the car NN5 got up and started walked over to us. It was then a race...
Have you ever noticed when you are rushing to get your keys out you never can find the right one? Anyways we made it in before we had to endure another 30-40 minute conversation. And by conversation I mean hear NN5's life story and trying to understand every word. So we got in the house to watch NN5 casually walk by. A few minutes later I got out and decided to make a run for the trunk. And was successful in getting everything in.
Yesterday, Sam was not so lucky. She comes over after work, she is on her cell phone and she steps out of the car and who is there but NN5 talking to her already... He didn't seem to care she was on her cell phone... Sam had to call the person back later, because he just didn't stop.

Neighbour No. 5
We live in a complex of many units. We are number 43. Strangely enough we live just across the street from unit number 5. Within unit 5 lives an East Indian man. We are unsure of his name but we know that he likes to talk. When we first moved into our place neighbour number 5 came over for a visit as Sam and I were sitting on the front porch. Being an unsuspecting victim assumed he was coming over to introduce himself to us, which in all fairness he did do. But... 35 minutes later we heard all about his rich sons who own (a combined) 25 houses across Canada. But he is quite happy where he is... It is beyond me that if his 3 sons own 25 houses, he chooses to live in a low income area of Penticton...

New Home...
So last Thursday was supposed to be the first day of me living in Penticton and the day before getting possession of our first home, I was definitely excited. I got dropped off at the airport for my flight that was to leave at 8:50pm, I went through security and thought I would call Sam before I boarded just to make sure everything was in order. As we talked she was just leaving her house. Not even 2 minutes after pulling away I hear Sam scream at the top of her lungs and a bang and the line cuts out.
Just at this time WestJet announces pre-boarding. So I quickly phone Sam back to see what happened, no answer. Again I call and again no answer. I am freaking out by now, fearing the worst, I didn't know if it was a car accident if she was ok, if she was alive or anything. Finally I got through on the third attempt. All that I could understand through the crying was car accident, a lady, and stop sign. And that she would call me back.
I tell her I loved her and hung up and attempt to wait patiently. I couldn't take it anymore as I was about to board I called again. Amber, one of Sam's high school friends who lives near by answered. She was able to tell me that Sam was ok but had to go. I still didn't know if by "ok" Amber meant she was barely alive - ok, or just couldn't get her phone because she was talking to someone else ok. I also asked what happened, she said that a lady ran a stop sign, and tboned Sam's car and it then flipped. She said she would call back in a bit.
By this time I needed to get on the plane, so I board and leave my phone on until the last possible moment. I turned it off as we began to taxi. After the longest hour flight of my life we landed and the plane barely got the wheels on the ground before I was checking for messages.
I got 2 messages, 1 from Sherri telling me Sam was in an accident, and taken to the hospital... now I didn't know very much so that was a bit worrysome. The other from Chester telling me the same and he would pick me up.
Finally, I was able to talk to Sam moments after checking those messages and at least hear that she was alright and alive.
Now hearing the whole story I can't imagine how scary it would have been for her. She was coming down Pineview Road, and a lady had run through a stop sign and with no sign of braking at all (no skid marks) slammed into the back passenger side of the car. Sam's car then rolled 2 times before stopping...
I am just thankful she is alive...
